The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), the National Association for VOCA Assistance Administrators (NAVAA), and the National Association of Crime Victims Compensation Boards (NACVCB) are excited to announce the 2024 National Joint Training Conference for VOCA Victim Assistance and Victim Compensation Administrators (2024 VOCA National Joint Training Conference) will take place on Tuesday, August 6 – Thursday, August 8, 2024, in New Orleans, LA, with pre-conference sessions on the afternoon of Monday, August 5. The Department of Justice has issued final approval for this conference.
The 2024 VOCA National Joint Training Conference brings staff and board members of VOCA administering agencies from states, territories, and the District of Columbia together with their federal colleagues. This conference is an opportunity to obtain critical information to help strengthen program and grant administration and learn about promising practices and innovations. The conference provides a forum for administrators to network and exchange information, experiences, and ideas with peers with similar responsibilities and meet with federal officials, colleagues, and other allied professionals.
Session topics and content are curated for the administrator audience with practical tools and first steps for enhancing federal grant administration, implementing new strategies to reduce barriers, increase options, and help victims in their state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Workshop topics include incorporating trauma-informed approaches, strategic planning for VOCA assistance and compensation programs, and many others. To support new VOCA administrators, this year’s conference will feature a VOCA 101 track to focus on the basics of VOCA and grant management fundamentals.
