This free webinar on Wednesday, August 6, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm provides an essential overview of the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and the Crime Victims Fund (CVF), with a focus on its history, funding mechanics, and the real-world impact of current VOCA trends on victim/survivor services. The session will be divided into four concise segments:

- State VOCA Victim Assistance Programs
As a result of participating in this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Explain the origins and purpose of the Crime Victims Fund, including how VOCA was established and why it is distinct from other federal funding sources.
- Identify the sources of revenue that fund VOCA, including offender-based fines and penalties.
- Describe how VOCA funds are allocated, including what programs are funded under the cap and how states receive and manage victim assistance grants.
- Understand the structure and flexibility of state-level VOCA victim assistance programs, including eligibility, grant cycles, and subgrantee distribution.
- Assess current challenges related to VOCA funding, such as declining deposits, federal stabilization efforts, and legislative responses.
